We consult with University leadership and faculty on a variety of strategies for promoting their work through the media, including honing interview skills.
We provide both one-on-one and group coaching sessions on covering strategies for working effectively with mainstream broadcast outlets and with print and web reporters. Topics include: handling reporter inquiries, gathering background, refining interview techniques and framing messages, including responding to challenging interview questions.
Nancy Seideman oversees an award-winning team of professionals who work to increase the awareness and reputation of the University among key audiences. Seideman served as interim vice president for communications and marketing (2013-2014), and she codirected strategic communications and media relations activities related to the care of Emory's four Ebola patients. Seideman has been an invited presenter at numerous conferences, including the 2015 College Media Conference, National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, and the CASE 2010 Institute for Communications and Marketing. Before joining Emory in 1990, Seideman served as national media manager for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and worked in hospital public relations in Boston and San Francisco.
As associate director of media relations at Emory University, Elaine Justice works with the central university and a broad range of faculty and professional schools to promote Emory's reputation and initiatives to the national media. Megan McRainey handles communications and media relations for social sciences, sciences, and research, as well as the Center for Community Partnerships.
As senior science communicator, Carol Clark created eScienceCommons, a blog for the natural and social sciences.

On Thursday, the Wall Street Cheat Sheet published their summary of the 5 winningest college basketball coaches of all time. When I dug down into the article a little further, it was explained this was a list of the top 5 winningest men’s college basketball coaches of all time.
It is important for coaches to understand how to best include and utilize parents as resources. Clarke Head Baseball Coach Chad Harris has announced the hiring of Curt Dixon, of McAlester, Okla., and Dan Spain, of Delmar, Iowa, as new assistant coaches for the baseball program. Curt DixonDixon, who currently pitches for the Kalamazoo Kings of the Frontier League, has spent the last two seasons as the assistant baseball coach at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark., in addition to pitching professionally.
Dixon will serve as the varsity pitching coach and will serve as the head coach for the new junior varsity baseball program at Clarke.


Dan SpainSpain, a Clarke College and Maquoketa High School graduate, has also been hired to help lead the baseball program. This course enables current practitioners to develop their conceptual and theoretical understanding in the field of Sports Coaching Science. Practical skills in a range of scientific disciplines will be further developed in order to enhance the coaching process.
Students who hold a sport-related degree classification of either 2:2 (or below), or, a non-sport related degree will be considered on a case by case basis and may be required to submit a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate coaching experience.
Due to the nature of the programme, all students must complete a criminal records bureau enhanced disclosure check prior to the start of the course.

Maia says one of the best features of the UC Sport Coaching degree is its flexible structure, which has meant she can study a range of subjects, rounding her education. Maia's positive attitude is evident when she is asked to give advice to anyone who is thinking about studying Sport Coaching. Seideman is responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies that support a broad range of activities including media relations, internal and external communications, issues management, and crisis communication, and serves as a University spokesperson. She develops strategic messaging, videos, and stories that aim to get Emory's best science noticed both around campus and the world.

Personal Coaching is proven to be the most effective way to train for greater effectiveness and results. He is also a graduate of U of O and holds several pitching records there including most career wins (24), wins in a season (9), most career strikeouts (205), and was named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball his senior year, an honor he shared with a player from the University of Arkansas and the University of Arizona. Dixon began the season pitching for the Big Bend Cowboys (Texas) in the Continental League where he was 4-0 before a mid-season trade sent him to Kalamazoo. He will also be responsible for junior college recruiting, assisting in fundraising, and for leading the Clarke baseball clinics.
Spain batted .331 his senior year for Clarke and was penciled in at shortstop for all but two games that season.
The course requires students to critically reflect upon contemporary principles and practices in sports coaching. Other facilities include two indoor sports centres, floodlit 3G astro, floodlit synthetic pitch, exercise physiology suite (BASES accredited), further sports science laboratories, gymnasia and dance studio. Students with few or no formal qualifications should contact the Registry Admissions Office (01905 855111) or the Course Leader (01905 855270) with details of their age, any work undertaken, including caring or organised voluntary work, and any other relevant experience. Students will be encouraged to develop critical, reflective and analytical skills in an environment of open debate and discussion. He spent the 2010 season as a student assistant for Clarke baseball, working with the hitters and infielders.
Spain will be responsible for recruiting the state of Iowa and for working with the Crusaders' infielders and hitters.
He will also be an assistant coach for the junior varsity baseball program at Clarke and will help with Clarke baseball clinics and fundraising.
